Thomas D. Berry was born in El Paso, Texas to a United States Air Force family. He spent the majority of his childhood in Fairborn, Ohio near the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, one of Dayton’s principal employers. After attending Fairborn High School, Thomas graduated from The Ohio State University in 1972 with a degree in accounting. He later obtained his law degree from Ohio State’s Moritz College of Law.
After living in Cleveland and working in the title insurance industry, Thomas accepted a job in San Francisco. It wasn’t long before Thomas met the love of his life, Nadira, and the two were married in 1977. Thomas passed the California State Bar exam the next year, continuing his work in the title insurance industry.
